Director of Grants Administration
The Colorado Health Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization
devoted to improving health and health care in Colorado. Our
assets total over one billion dollars, including an investment
portfolio, as well as our ownership interest in Denver’s
HealthONE hospital system. These assets serve the community
through grants, medical education programs, and health policy initiatives.
Position Overview
Directs all components of grants processing, including structure
of grants, regulatory compliance, and sharing of grants information
to Communications, Philanthropy and other internal business partners.
The Director of Grants Administration is responsible for management
and oversight of the Foundation’s grants management processes,
practices and systems and for developing and maintaining a strong
culture of customer-service and support for grantees and applicants.
Primary responsibilities include management of the grants administration
function, design and implementation of grant processes, resources
and reporting, and management of information sessions and other
communications and technical support for grantees and applicants.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of Foundation's grants administration, grant
reporting, grant agreements, and grantee and applicant support
- As the Colorado Health Foundation’s philanthropy continues
to expand, take a leadership role in developing, implementing,
refining, and streamlining workflow systems and processes, utilizing
technology to maximize operational efficiency and productivity
- Participate in strategic planning and initiate innovation in
grants administration
- Ensure adherence to the Colorado Health Foundation’s
grant making policies and practices
- Review and update guidelines for program staff, i.e. best practices
for grant making from proposal to grant agreement and grant monitoring
- Coordinate and integrate the grant making processes with evaluation,
programs, and other Foundation activities
- Ensure that grants management is a valuable resource for staff,
applicants, grantees and the Board of Directors
- Prepare regular reports for the Board, senior management and
staff and contribute to foundation publications, including the
annual report and Web site
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration
(or related field)
- 5+ years of experience managing the drafting and editing of
grants and/or service contracts
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership
role, working
with a collaborative, senior-level team with an emphasis on service
and support
- Demonstrated ability to establish strategy, develop
work plans, multi-task and deliver quality work
- Exceptional oral
and written communications skills
- Strong analytical and financial
problem-solving skills
- Technologically savvy; proficient with
Microsoft Office and other applications, databases and Internet
research. Knowledge of MicroEdge GIFTS is preferred
- Knowledge
of GIS mapping software is a plus
- Ability to build strong working
relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, grantees,
and other external partners
- Solid understanding of, and experience
with, automated systems and business process redesign
- Health care
industry experience and accounting or compliance experience is
a plus

Communications
Officer – Community and Public Affairs
Position Purpose:
At The Colorado Health Foundation, (TCHF), communication is an integral part
of our work. Our mission is to improve health and health care in Colorado.
To accomplish that we must create awareness among a broad range of constituents,
encourage partnerships and proactively engage them in our work. These
constituents include the general public, nonprofit organizations, elected officials
and policymakers, medical and health care professionals and the media.
The Communication Officer – Community and Public Affairs
is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies
to move forward the Foundation’s policy agenda, at the community,
state and federal level. Working closely with the Foundation policy
and advocacy team, the communication officer will develop a clear
understanding of health care policy issues that impact the Foundation’s
ability to achieve its goals related to Healthy Living, Health
Coverage and Health Care. The Communication Officer
will identify necessary policy and community stakeholders and develop
communication strategies and content to motivate action around
Foundation policy initiatives.
The Communication Officer will work closely with the communications
team to create innovative communication programs to educate and
ensure community and policy stakeholders view TCHF as a credible
and reliable source of information about health and health care
policy. In addition, this person will ensure that communication
activities at the Foundation stimulate action and policy change.
Ultimately we want TCHF perceived as a leader on current health
care issues and broad understanding and acceptance of our policy
positions.
To accomplish these goals the Communication Officer will:
- Develop an understanding of the Foundation’s policy
goals and community stakeholders and current federal, state and
local policy issues affecting attaining these goals.
- Work with the Foundation policy
team to develop and implement strategies to advance TCHF policy
positions.
- Develop and implement complete
communication campaigns to support Foundation policy initiatives
including polling and research, messaging, convening and paid/earned
media plans.
- Work with the communications team to create news and information
that keeps all TCHF stakeholders aware of important policy issues
affecting the Foundation’s agenda.
- Create credibility and awareness of the Colorado Health
Report Card as a tool to measure health status and health outcomes
for Colorado with legislators and community leaders.
- Work with the Communication Officer-Media and Marketing
to develop and place news releases, columns, Op/Eds and editorials
about successful TCHF policy initiatives.
- Work with coalition members to align and leverage Foundation
communication activities with Board-approved issue campaigns.
- Develop key messages for Foundation board and staff members
related to Foundation policy initiatives.
- Advise and support grantees and other TCHF partners on communication
related to public and community affairs that affect Foundation
goals and results.
- Work with program officers on health care issues in rural
communities and develop community relations and communication
plans to address issues.
- Manage consultants related to public affairs or policy
communication campaigns.
- Manage community and public affairs budget, tracking
all expenses to adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Foundation
strategies and operations, including philanthropy, medical education
and community programs. Develop relationships with key
individuals and organizations working on health and health care
in Colorado. Stay abreast of local, state and national
developments in health and health care.
- Adhere to all Foundation fiscal policies and procedures.
- Represent TCHF in an exemplary manner; maintain the highest
standards of professional conduct.
Qualifications:
Required
- 7+ years progressive experience in communications, public affairs,
government relations or related field.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing public
affairs communication programs, government relations and community
relations plans.
- Thorough understanding of and experience with Web 2.0 tools
and technologies, and consumer generated content sites. Prior
participation in social networks, communities and forums.
- Professional writing skills; excellent verbal communication
skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve problems;
sense of curiosity and commitment to continuous learning.
- Experienced professional who thrives in a challenging environment,
is disciplined and takes personal responsibility for results. Works
well in teams, is flexible and committed to shared success.
- Commitment to The Colorado Health Foundation’s vision,

- Bachelors degree required. Additional education in media
relations, new and emerging media, social marketing and/or consumer-related

Executive
Assistant II
The Colorado Health Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization
devoted to improving health and health care in Colorado. Our

medical education programs, and health policy initiatives. Currently,
the Foundation is seeking an Executive Assistant to support the
Vice President of Operations and the Department’s dynamic
teams.
Position Purpose:
This position provides administrative support to the Vice President
of Operations and the overall Department, including Grants Management,
Information Technology, Knowledge Management, Evaluation, and Facilities
Management. The position handles details of a varied and
confidential nature in performing assigned administrative duties
for the Vice President and the Department. It also participates
on the Administrative Team to provide organization-wide support
for multiple projects and events as well as administrative coverage.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide confidential and administrative support to the Vice
President of Operations including maintaining calendars for meetings
and appointments.
- Provide scheduling and administrative support for Operations
activities and projects.
- Office organization, including supplies, deliveries, maintenance
of office equipment, mail, and couriers.
- Event coordination and support, including grantee and applicant
meetings.
- Support facility maintenance, including office readiness for
new hires and interactions with contractors.
- Prepare memos, reports and other correspondence for the Operations
Department, as directed
- Communicate with vendors to ensure responsive, accurate transactions.
- Perform various administrative, research and analytical tasks
on behalf of Operations.
- Provide back up support for other members of the Administrative
Team, including coverage for the Receptionist Desk, as needed.
- Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement
of standard operating procedures
- Review monthly departmental expenses for consistency with departmental
budgets.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as requested by management.
Job Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience using MS Office (e.g. Excel,
Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) researching the Internet, and using
standard office equipment (e.g. photocopiers, fax machines, printers)
- Minimum seven years administrative assistant experience, with
two years at the executive-level
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proven history for handling sensitive matters in professional
and confidential manner
- Strong organizational skills and solid record of consistently
providing excellent follow-through
- Strong interpersonal skills, accountability, reliability and
self-motivation.
- Blend of creative and strategic thinking relative to the broad
goals of The Colorado Health Foundation and tactical attention

Receptionist—Johnson Adult Day Program
Position Purpose:
This position serves as administrative
support for The Colorado Health Foundation’s Johnson Adult Day Program—a specialized
center with daytime activities designed specifically for older
adults with Alzheimer’s disease or for those with cognitive
impairments due to stroke. The Receptionist is responsible
for answering incoming telephone lines, greeting guests, managing
database input, and performing other administrative duties as assigned.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Function at front desk as Administrative Assistant, greeting
all visitors, caregivers and participants; maintain all contacts
made and follow up with Director.
- Answer the phones, log messages and follow up on requests for
information; record attendance on a daily basis; conduct tours
as necessary.
- Distribute intake packet for each prospective participant,
and follow up on the return of necessary forms, and maintain
packet literature.
- Assist with ongoing chart maintenance.
- Maintain roster and attendance sheets for Activity Coordinators;
order meals for participants, including those with special dietary
needs; maintain TAME forms, monthly menus and entertainment schedules.
- Assemble monthly billing information and forward to accounting
at The Colorado Health Foundation; maintain accounts receivable.
- Collect timecards and distribute payroll documents biweekly.
- Work with case managers regarding Medicaid PAR issues and maintain
all individual Medicaid information for participants, as well
as all personal information; provide participant-specific information
to insurance companies as required.
- Process mail, incoming and outgoing.
- Maintain office supplies inventory, place kitchen orders.
- Provide administrative support to Director and staff as required,
including coordinating mailings and setting up for special events.
- Complete administrative projects as assigned; contribute to
team environment in office; perform additional duties and tasks
as requested by management.
Required Job Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years receptionist or administrative
assistant experience in an office setting.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Internet,
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to use standard office equipment.
- Must type at least 55 wpm.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task; prioritize.
- Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
- Professional and friendly demeanor for front office presence.
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Experience in a long-term care facility and/or working with
seniors highly desirable.
- Experience in bookkeeping or general accounting a plus.
- The ability to work effectively and think creatively and strategically
about the broad goals of JADP while following through on the
detail-oriented work required by the position.
Personal Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an individual who possesses a
warm, caring disposition, enjoys working with the elderly and is
attracted to the mission of the Johnson Adult Day Program. To
successfully fulfill this position’s responsibilities requires
the ability to remain calm in a busy organization, work effectively
with nurses, Activity Coordinators, Certified Nursing Assistants
and administrative personnel, and see what needs to get done and
the initiative to do it. The ideal candidate for this position
is a self-starter who is compassionate, organized, detail-oriented
and enthusiastic; he or she will possess and demonstrate a can-do
attitude and customer service ethic. This candidate will
also be keenly interested in contributing to the Johnson Adult
Day Program.
Working Conditions
The facility, located in Englewood, CO at 3444 S. Emerson St,
is a free-standing day center designed for the well-being of the
elderly participants of the program. This facility includes
clinic room, small kitchen, larger rooms for participant groups,
gated yard and conference rooms.
