Financial Information

The Colorado Health Foundation is the third largest health-focused foundation in the country, with $2.2 billion in assets. In 2012, we awarded nearly $86 million in grants and contributions to improve health and health care in Colorado.

With the goal of making Colorado the healthiest state in the nation, we invest in communities throughout the state to encourage healthy living, increase the number of Coloradans with health insurance and promote access to quality, coordinated health care.

Presently, the Foundation investment portfolio is significantly more diversified than in October 2011. This has been accomplished by adding new asset classes to the overall portfolio and dramatically altering the asset allocation structure of the portfolio. Diversification within asset classes has changed considerably by focusing on investment strategies and managers that differ significantly in their approaches. This greater diversification has substantially reduced the investment risk of the portfolio, translating into greater stability in Foundation spending budgets.
