The Healthy Living team works to ensure that all Coloradans have access to the components of healthy living – nutritious food, physical activity and disease management tools.
Meet the Team Leader…
Khanh Nguyen is the senior program officer for Healthy Living at The Colorado Health Foundation. She leads a team of enthusiastic and passionate health advocates that works daily to help nonprofits throughout Colorado implement programs and projects that will provide access to nutritious food, physical activity and disease management tools. Prior to joining the Foundation, Khanh served as a consultant for various local foundations, including Caring for Colorado Foundation, The Denver Foundation and The Piton Foundation. She also worked as both a program officer and director of the Colorado Grants Program for the Daniels Fund. Khanh holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Denver and a law degree from the University of Denver. She currently serves on the Governor’s Rural Health Care Grants Council. (pictured top right)
Meet the Team…
Emma Cortez is the program assistant for Healthy Living. As the administrative coordinator for all things Healthy Living, she ensures that all team members make it to their meetings and have time for a healthy lunch, among many other tasks. As a native Coloradan, she never misses an opportunity to spend time outdoors with friends and family. Prior to joining the Foundation in early 2007, Emma worked as a personal assistant to the vice president of a financial firm. (pictured top center)
Hillary Fulton, one of the Foundation’s long-time staff members, is a program officer for Healthy Living. Focusing on school health and chronic disease management tools, her professional and personal commitment to healthy living never goes unnoticed. Hillary’s dedication to nonprofit work started early, when she helped start a home-repair program for seniors through the AmeriCorps program. Since joining the Foundation in 2004, she has worked in a variety of areas, including health and homelessness, substance abuse, health issues in adolescents and oral and mental health. Hillary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business communication from Augustana College in Sioux Falls. (pictured bottom right)
Monica Lyle, the newest member of the Healthy Living team, is an associate program officer. She works with a variety of grantees, helping them obtain funding and/or implement their projects. Monica brings a wealth of knowledge in public health, wellness and prevention to the Foundation’s Healthy Living team. She worked as a community AmeriCorps member for the Metro Community Provider Network and as a research assistant at the Henry Ford Health System and University of Michigan School of Public Health. Monica earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in human biology from Stanford University and a Master of Public Health degree in health behavior and health education from University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. Sara O’Keefe is the communication officer for media and marketing. While leading the Foundation’s media relations and marketing activities, she also supports the Healthy Living team with communication activities and grants, including LiveWell Colorado. Sara’s background and expertise include nearly eight years in government and nonprofit communication, marketing, media and community relations, stakeholder development and social marketing. Prior to joining the Foundation, she served as communication manager for the Denver Regional Air Quality Council. Sara has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and a Master of Arts degree in political science. (pictured top left)
Alexis Weightman is the director of evaluation at the Foundation. In this role, she works to implement appropriate evaluation strategies and ensure that each grant includes measurable results in support of the Foundation’s goals. Prior to joining the Foundation, Alexis worked for the Science and Technology Policy Institute, a federally funded research and development center based in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, she led large-scale program evaluations for the National Institutes of Health and conducted policy analyses for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. As a fourth-generation Denverite, Alexis is happy to be back in Colorado. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and mathematics from Middlebury College and a master’s degree in public policy at the University of Denver. (not pictured)
