Colorado Health Foundation Names Three to Board of Directors

DENVER, CO — The Colorado Health Foundation added three new members to its Board of Directors, while six members completed their terms.

Joining the Board:

  • Lydia Prado, PhD, vice president of child & family services, Mental Health Center of Denver – Dr. Prado provides strategic vision and leadership, seeking excellence in research design, program development and evaluation, culturally responsive service delivery, and the identification and implementation of “best practices” in a community-based mental health setting. She works diligently to transform traditional service models to benefit diverse populations, develop prevention and early intervention strategies and establish community-based partnerships. 
  • Terri L. Richardson, MD, internist, Kaiser Permanente, Denver, Colo. – Dr.
    Richardson has been an internist with Kaiser Permanente since 2004. Prior to that, she was the physician lead at the African American Center of Excellence for Kaiser Colorado in Denver and an internist at the Eastside Health Center for Denver Health Authority. She is the recent recipient of the 2016 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Civic League Health Equity Award, as well as the 2016 Colorado Black Women for Political Action Family Award. 
  • Tommy Barnhart, president, Ten Mile Enterprises LLC, Silverthorne, Colo. – Mr.
    Barnhart is an expert in rural health issues. He brings with him more than 45 years of experience in health care finance and operations, working with hospitals, long-term care providers, home health agencies, hospices, clinics and other health care entities. 

 

"The addition of each new member adds increased depth to how we consider and believe in health, wellness and the power of community," said Karen McNeil-Miller, president and CEO of the Colorado Health Foundation. "Together, with our incumbent Board members, we will have the knowledge, expertise and key direction needed to help us make important decisions that drive improved health for Coloradans."

Jerome Davis, regional vice president, Colorado for Public Service Company of Colorado, an Xcel Energy Company, will take over as Board Chair on Jan. 1, 2017. Outgoing Board members who have completed their terms include: John Hughes, Jr., CPA, ABV, CVA, partner (retired), CliftonLarsonAllen LLP; Grant Jones, executive director (retired), Center for African American Health; Ruth Nauts, MD, regional department chief, orthopedics, Kaiser Permanente Colorado; Sally Schaefer, CEO (retired), health care consultant; Stephen H. Shogan, MD, Colorado Neurosurgery Associates PC; and John M. Westfall, MD, MPH, professor of family medicine, University of Colorado School of Medicine.
