Grant Examples
If more people have health insurance coverage, then access to care improves, health improves and life expectancy increases.
The Colorado Health Foundation invests its resources in the following areas to increase rates of health insurance coverage in Colorado:
- Increase local coverage and access to care by:
- Supporting Colorado communities in leveraging resources and developing sustainable financing solutions to expand coverage
- Supporting policy changes through advocacy that increases the availability of adequate and affordable health insurance plans/benefit packages
- Assisting with state implementation of federal health care reforms (e.g. streamlining enrollment in qualified health benefits plans and subsidy programs)
- Decrease underinsurance by:
- Supporting efforts to develop or enhance health insurance options so they include a wider choice of benefits for small businesses, low-income workers and independent contractors
- Educating consumers in evaluating both the cost and the adequacy of health plans/benefit packages
- Assisting with state implementation of federal health care reforms (e.g. creation of state health insurance exchange(s) and consumers health information office(s)
- Developing or expanding Colorado aging and disability resource centers
- Provide financial incentives for high-quality, cost-effective care by:
- Piloting payment reform projects
- Providing incentives for consumers to choose quality, cost-effective providers
