Examples of grants in this Funding Strategy include:
Frontier Charter Academy Active Play Project – Funding from this grant supports the purchase and installation of new playground equipment and updated an active play space at Frontier Charter Academy. The new equipment will ensure students engage in quality physical activity during recess and physical education classes. The project will have an immeasurable impact on the rural community of Calhan, Colo., which currently lacks such amenities.
Comprehensive Physical Education Improvement in Mapleton Public Schools – This planning grant supports the district's efforts to develop a comprehensive, evidence-based physical education program aligned with the new Colorado Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Standards. Ultimately, this grant will help the district increase moderate and physical activity for 4,868 students annually.
Yuma School District One Play Areas – Approximately 567 children in northeastern Colorado will have access to play areas in their elementary and middle schools through this grant. Once in place, the play areas will be open for community use after school hours. The district was recognized by the Colorado Legacy Foundation as a Healthy School Champion.
Grand River Student Health Center – A new school-based health center will increase access to primary, mental and oral health care services for residents in northwestern Colorado. The new site will improve access to health services for the low-income, high-need rural community.
