Grant Examples: Build Health Care Professionals Workforce
Examples of grants in this Funding Strategy include:
Colorado Health Service Corps — This program offers Foundation-funded loan repayment opportunities for health care professionals committed to providing care to underserved populations in high-need communities. CHSC covers a broad array of health professionals including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, dental hygienists and mental/behavioral health practitioners.
Colorado School of Public Health — The Colorado School of Public Health is emerging as the regional leader in public health education, research and service. The Foundation provides funds that support the startup, growth, and accreditation of the school as well as the development of the Center for Public Health practice.
Family Medicine Residency Practice and Curriculum Improvement Project — This project is a collaborative effort between Health TeamWorks, the University of Colorado's Department of Family Medicine and the Colorado Institute of Family Medicine. Funding from the Foundation helps Colorado's family medicine residency programs in becoming patient-centered medical homes.
CU-UNITE — With the goal of increasing the number of primary care providers to work with underserved populations in urban settings, the Foundation invests in the CU-UNITE program. The four-year program teaches students about health inequities and health issues inherent in specific urban populations. Students undergo clinical training at local health care sites.
