Mark Evans

Mark joined the Foundation in April 2019, after serving nearly a decade as the CFO at University of Colorado (CU) Medicine. His career-long passion for business was sparked by its broad range of opportunities across the public and private sectors. In all, Mark has nearly three decades of experience working for major corporations, government, nonprofits and the small business sector. Mark considers his time at the nonprofit health system, CU Medicine, as being instrumental in developing his passion for mission-focused work.

Mark is committed to growing his understanding and awareness for the systemic drivers of inequity. He expressed that his family’s positive experience with access to health care and opportunity is not shared by all Coloradans. The reality that many folks in our state face barriers to achieving good health deeply impacts Mark; a reality that sparked a newfound appreciation to strive for health equity in Colorado and beyond.

At the Foundation, Mark manages financial and operational departments across the organization, including building operations; investment portfolio oversight; grantmaking operations, auditing and compliance functions. Essentially, Mark ensures the Foundation’s operational and fiduciary responsibilities work to support our mission of improving the health of Coloradans.

A Coloradan for more than two decades, Mark previously lived in Washington D.C. prior to being convinced by his wife to move back west to be closer to family. He is an avid cyclist and hiker, and shares that any activity that engages the mind and body is a driver of positive health. During baseball season, you can find Mark, his wife and their youngest son enjoying Rockies games at Coors Field, a favorite Colorado landmark of the family.

Meaningful relationships are a priority for Mark, and life is at its best for him when he’s connected with family and friends. He lives in the Ken-Caryl Ranch neighborhood with his wife, Alison. They have two adult children.
