What does being healthy mean to you and your community? Foundation President and CEO, Karen McNeil-Miller, asked this question on the recent statewide #HealthiestCO listening tour.
The 11-region tour took place between September 2015 and March 2016, visiting communities across Colorado, from the Eastern Plains to the Western Slope. The tour was an opportunity for grantees, community residents and local leaders to share their perspectives on health.
Western Slope Region
The Western Slope Listening Tour took place on Sept. 30–Oct. 1, 2015, visiting Delta, Garfield, Mesa, Montrose and Pitkin counties. The tour consisted of five sessions hosted in the communities of Rifle, Aspen, Delta, Montrose and Grand Junction, Colorado. Additionally, Foundation staff participated in three site visits at the New Castle Pedestrian Bridge, the River Valley Health Center in Olathe and Mind Springs Health in Grand Junction.
Mountain Region
The Mountain Region Listening Tour took place on Oct. 12–14, 2015, visiting Chaffee, Eagle, Grand, Jackson, Lake, Park and Routt counties. The tour consisted of seven sessions hosted in the communities of Frisco, Fairplay, Salida, Leadville, Edwards, Steamboat Springs and Granby, Colorado. Additionally, Foundation staff participated in site visits of St. Vincent Hospital in Leadville, Doctors Plus Kids Care Clinic (school-based health center) at Avon Elementary School and North Park Medical Clinic in Walden.

Northern and Northeast Regions
The Northern and Northeast Region Listening Tours took place on Oct. 26–28, 2015 meeting with representatives from Boulder, Larimer, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld and Yuma counties. The tour consisted of seven sessions hosted in the communities of Wray, Sterling, Fort Morgan, Greeley, Fort Collins and Longmont, Colorado. Additionally, the Foundation staff participated in site visits of Yuma County Hospital District in Yuma, the New Centennial Mental Health Center in Fort Morgan, Salud Family Health Centers Clinic in Fort Lupton, My Health+Connections Community Outreach and Enrollment Center, Sunrise Family Medicine Clinic, Boys and Girls Club and Rodarte Center in Greeley, Sister Mary Alice Murphy Center for Hope in Fort Collins and St. Vrain Valley School District in Longmont.

Southern Region
The Southern Region Listening Tour took place on Nov. 16–17, 2015 meeting with representatives from Las Animas, Huerfano, Fremont and Pueblo counties. The tour consisted of three sessions hosted in the communities of Trinidad, Canon City and Pueblo, Colorado. Additionally, Foundation staff participated in site visits of Eckhart Elementary School in Trinidad, Walsenburg Family Resource Center and Pueblo Triple Aim.
Southwest and San Luis Valley Region
The Southwest and San Luis Valley Region Listening Tour took place on Dec. 7–9, meeting with representatives from Montezuma, Dolores, La Plata, Archuleta, Conejos, Alamosa and Rio Grande counties. The tour consisted of five sessions hosted in the communities of Cortez, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Alamosa and Del Norte, Colorado. Additionally, Foundation staff participated in site visits of The Pinon Project Family Resource Center in Cortez, Mancos School to Farm Project in Cortez, Southern Ute Community Action Programs (SUCAP) in Ignacio, South Conejos School District in Antonito, San Luis Valley Behavioral Health in Alamosa and the Monte Vista Sports Complex in Monte Vista.

Southeast Region
The Southeast Region Listening Tour took place on Dec. 14–15, 2015, meeting with representatives from Baca, Bent, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero and Prowers counties. The tour consisted of three sessions hosted in the communities of La Junta, Las Animas and Lamar, Colorado. Additionally, Foundation staff participated in site visits of the Health Navigator Program at Otero Junior College, Reynolds Park Project in Swink, Healthy Places Storefront in Lamar and Wiley School District in Wiley.
Northwest Region
The Northwest Regional Listening Tour took place on Feb. 8–9, 2016, meeting with representatives from Moffat and Routt counties. The tour consisted of two sessions hosted in the communities of Meeker and Craig, Colorado. Additionally, the delegation participated in site visits of the Northwest Colorado Boys and Girls Club in Craig and the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association in Craig.
Eastern Plains Region
The Eastern Plains Regional Listening Tour took place on Feb. 22–23, 2016, meeting with representatives from Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson and Lincoln Counties. The tour consisted of two sessions hosted in the communities of Kiowa and Limon, Colorado. Additionally, Foundation staff participated in site visits of the Fawn Valley Community Park in Kiowa, Prairie Family Center in Burlington and Keefe Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne Wells.
Denver Region
The Denver Region Listening Tour was the final tour of the Statewide Listening Tour. Sessions were held Jan. 12–March 7, 2016. Foundation staff met with representatives from Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson Counties. The tour consisted of eight sessions hosted in the communities of Brighton, Centennial, Broomfield, Denver, Castle Rock and Golden, Colorado.
